The University of Manchester is delighted to announce the launch of the North Campus Incubator Unit. Three arches beneath the railway line that has cut across the campus since the university was established by a group of Manchester industrialists 180 years ago are to be refurbished to accommodate spin out companies established by the University of Manchester and Manchester Science Enterprise Centre.

The iconic structure will make an ideal facility for staff and students to develop and progress ideas and innovation into new companies, and its central position on campus will enable them to maintain their collaboration with other staff on multi-disciplinary research.  In addition it will actively seek other occupiers for the incubator which will include high technology start-up companies from across the North West region that would benefit from close proximity to the research

laboratories and knowledge base, and from the services offered by the University, Manchester Science Enterprise Centre (MSEC), Chamber Business Enterprises (C-B-E), and the Manchester Technology Fund (MTF).

Thanks to the generous, continued support of the Northwest Development Agency, we are able to put business incubation activity on a much firmer and more ambitious footing. This ?1m scheme provides 460 sq. m. of incubation space within the campus.
